Fourth Year -Managerial Economics Major
Here is my spill of how I got involved with Students In VITA: I was looking for an internship during my third year, one day, I saw this tax internship in my email and then I saw them again at MU tabling. I thought this might be destiny and a great opportunity to try it out. As a person without any tax knowledge but with a passion for learning, I’ve grown from a tax illiterate to an expert (self-claimed). Moreover, I’ve gotten more involved in the organization by becoming the site coordinator and continuing to inspire others to be actively involved in the Davis community and provide a free service to residents and colleagues.

Traveling, try different boba shops, watch dramas |
Third Year - Managerial Economics Major/Accounting Minor
Throughout my time at UC Davis, I have greatly appreciated not only the school I attend but the community of Davis as well. Being a student here is about much more than just an education and I owe the community for the experiences I have. When I heard about VITA and their positive impact on the community through community service, I lept at the opportunity to get involved. VITA provides volunteers with an incredible, unforgettable experience that offers valuable insight into the world of business and tax accounting. Through VITA, I have grown in my ability to communicate clearly and patiently, serve alongside fellow interns, and provide quality service. Being a part of VITA is much more than being a tax preparer, VITA provides the opportunity to become more involved in the Davis community and contribute to a significant cause!

Third-Year- Mathematical Analytics and Operations Research Major
I first joined Students in VITA with the intention of giving back to the community while pushing myself to explore the field of accounting and taxes. This is now my third year at UC Davis and as a member of VITA, and I could proudly say how much I’ve grown professionally and personally. Not only have I learned the basics of taxes, but I was able to expand my horizons and met many amazing people that have inspired me to go further (and that I could consider my close friends!). Though I may not end up choosing to pursue a career in the accounting field, I chose to stay as a board member of VITA because I want to promote the goals that this organization strives for. I am excited for the upcoming year and hope that I am able to grow even more!

Fourth-Year- Microbiology Major
Ever since my first year at Davis I have only heard good things about VITA and wanted to learn more. At first, I was interested in VITA because I wanted to learn more about taxes so I would be able to help my family file their returns. VITA is so much more than just taxes because through VITA, I was able to gain professional experience, meet new people, and give back to the Davis community. VITA is a place where I can continuously learn and experience new things. Sometimes it’s challenging but it’s all worth it because at the end of the day I was able to help families in need. Being able to see my work positively affect the people around me is a great feeling and I love how people leave VITA with a smile. I am grateful to be one of the marketing directors in VITA and I am excited to see what is in store for this upcoming year.

My experience with VITA as a tax preparer will definitely be one of my highlights from college. In general, this internship has been the perfect opportunity to implement the concepts taught within the classroom, but also to get a taste of working in the real world. As a tax preparer, I've been able to improve my soft skills when working with clients and I found myself dedicating time to improve myself to provide the best service possible to our clients. Although the internship does require commitment, the accomplishment from successfully completing a tax season and the skills you learn as a tax preparer is a priceless experience.
Interest/Hobbies:
Dancing, cooking, eating, stretching |
Third Year - Managerial Economic Major
I joined VITA not knowing anything about tax or accounting and it honestly felt like a challenge in the beginning. Joining VITA allowed me to expand my professionalism and create new skills that I wasn't able to develop before. This internship allowed me to learn so much more about the career path that I want to pursue in the future and although there were some challenges in the beginning, meeting fellow interns made it easy to learn and experience it together.

Second year- Managerial Economics Major
Being an intern in my freshman year was a huge step out of my comfort zone, but it ultimately taught me how to communicate with clients, remain professional under stressful situations, and work effectively in a team environment. In my free time, you can find me yelping new food places to eat (especially hotpot, korean shaved ice, and boba), buying makeup on Sephora to maintain my VIB Rouge status, or drinking jasmine milk tea. Feel free to reach out to me if you want to talk about VITA or if you want to get boba (because I would be happy to do either of those things)!!
Interest/Hobbies:
Boba, makeup, online shopping, mukbangs, korean rnb |
Second Year - Managerial Economics Major / Accounting and Applied Computing Information Systems Minors
Joining VITA my fall freshman year was a spontaneous but ultimately beneficial decision. I was flyered at the Involvement Fair and decided to apply even with zero background in taxes. I believed it would be a great opportunity to gain practical skills as well as delve deeper into career interests that would also help build my resume. VITA provided me with everything that I sought for and I am happy to be returning as a Lead Intern this year to guide future interns!

I heard about VITA from a friend during my first year at UC Davis. I planned to join the following year but unfortunately I missed the deadline. Finally, I joined during my third year. I am proud to be part of this organization where I am able to serve the community. I always wanted an internship that allows me to develop professionalism and get hands on experience related to the field that I am studying. Through VITA, I don’t only gain tax knowledge, I also improved my interpersonal skills by interacting with clients and other interns. The appreciation that I received from clients motivates me to continue to help. I look forward to another year of serving the Davis community!

Second Year, Biological Sciences Major
During the beginning of the school year, I was unsure of what field I wanted to have a career in. I had some interest in the business and accounting field, but had no insight as to whether or not I wanted a career in that field. Then I heard about VITA after receiving an email and thought that the internship would be a great way to explore something that was different from my major. I had no prior knowledge about taxes at all and thought it would be a great opportunity to learn something new, along with developing different professional skills. Through this internship, I was able to gain various skills that I will be able to use in the future, such as communication and leadership. I look forward to helping the community in the upcoming tax season and meeting all of the new interns this school year.

Fourth Year, Managerial Economic Major/Accounting & Political Science Minor
As a VITA tax intern last year, I gained so much professional experience working with clients and exposing myself to the world of taxes. It was definitely daunting at first! Although I had no prior tax experience I ended up growing very comfortable with tax laws and the friendly environment that VITA created, causing me to become more involved with this wonderful organization as a Lead Intern. Volunteering as a tax intern last year allowed me to not only enhance my communication skills and other meaningful skills, but it also gave me an opportunity to give back to the Davis community in such a way that allows me to grow more professionally.
Interest/Hobbies:
Playing piano, singing, ping pong, yoga |
Fifth Year- Managerial Economics Major
I decided to join VITA because it is a great way to help explore a potential pathway in business and provide opportunities that can further develop my professional and leadership skills. I really liked the idea of how VITA is geared towards helping people learn to become more financially stable, while providing them with knowledge of how to effectively manage their money. VITA has provided me new knowledge such as the different tax laws and how to work with a client efficiently to prepare their taxes. I love that VITA is a great source to connect and learn with other interns with the same dedication and aspiration as me. It is definitely a rewarding experience being able to work with different clients and finding the best way to assist them. Interning my third year with VITA, I want to use all my gained experience to provide better assistance, service, and advice to our incoming interns as well as our clients. I am grateful for this organization and hope to continue to grow and give back.
