Welcome to Students in VITA at UC Davis

Students in VITA interns complete 40 internship hours and receive transcript notation from the University of California, Davis for participating in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

The VITA Program generally offers free tax help to people who make $67,000 or less and to those who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals in local communities. Students in VITA not only encourages professionalism through certification and one-on-one tax preparation with families and individuals, but also offers leadership opportunities in the program. As a registered student organization, volunteers can take on more responsibility by applying to one of many leadership positions from coordinator to marketing director or lead intern.

Location & Hours

Experience our personal tax preparation service. Our interns and board members are qualified and experienced individuals. IRS accepts and process individual 2025 tax returns sometime in January (specific date will be posted once the IRS announces the date). ​
